My name is Abby Girod and I’m a creative who loves all kinds of design from art to software to architecture. I believe that behind every object or experience there should be a good story and an equally compelling design. And most of all, life should be fun! I am particularly interested in the role that playful products and technology can have in the lifelong learning process.
In 2010, I graduated from Bard College with a major in Studio Art and minor in Physics. My senior thesis was my first large-scale sculpture, which consisted of playground elements spanning 90 feet. After graduating, I entered a Master of Architecture program at California College of the Arts.
I currently work in the payments software industry as a Product Manager, where I help shape the interaction between merchants and consumers in the quickly evolving world of mobile commerce.
In my spare time, I like to dabble in all kinds of making, from furniture and drawing to greeting cards and fashion. Or, you might find me volunteering at the Exploratorium museum.
